You've probably heard folks telling you to use your keywords in your articles and your article titles, but when you're writing articles over the long term simply putting keywords in your article titles can become repetitive very quickly.
I'd really like to encourage you to go a few steps beyond just inserting your keywords in your article titles–how about trying to lure readers to your specific article?
Most of the time your keywords will be on a more general topic (the topic of your website), and then when you're writing articles you'll delve into more detailed topics under that more general one.
For example, if my keyword phrase is 'article marketing' my articles will be on specific aspects under that overarching theme. Some articles may be about writing, others may be about using keywords in articles, others may be about submitting articles–the possibilities go on and on.

When you're doing Article Marketing your resource box is the key to driving traffic back to your website.
You can have the most gorgeous, eloquent, well-written article in the world, but if you drop the ball on your resource box, you're not going to see the results you were looking for.
When you're crafting an excellent resource box you'll always tell your name, a little author bio, and give your URL, but what about a reason to click-through to your website?
We call the "reason to click-through" a lure. It's the attractive incentive that you use to make the reader say, "Hey now–they have something at their site for me. Let me go and get it!"
There are all sorts of lures you can use, and the best one for you really depends on your website and your personal taste, but I thought it might be helpful to list some of the most common and effective resource box lures that folks use.
Here we go:

It's pretty frustrating to go to the trouble of writing a really insightful and eloquent article, only to later discover that the link in your resource box doesn't work for one reason or another.
If this has happened to you, you know what I'm talking about (this has happened to me when I was first starting out too). If this hasn't happened to you, then be thankful and take this opportunity to put a new safeguarding system in place so that you'll never run into this problem.
Why would a link in a resource box not work?
It all has to do with formatting–if you enter your link the proper way, then your link will work.
But if you inadvertently slip up and the link becomes formatted incorrectly, then it won't work.
How can you be sure that your resource box links will work?
The good news is that there are some definitive (and easy!) ways to be absolutely sure that your links are functioning correctly:

When you're doing article marketing it's not just a matter of cranking out an article and then getting it published–most quality publishers will screen each and every article and decline the ones that are not up to par.
As we've discussed before, when you write your articles you need to keep the needs of the publishers in mind. After all, what's the point of writing and submitting an article only to have it rejected when it comes before the eyes of a publisher?
At SubmitYOURArticle.com we try to help our members have the best chances of getting their articles accepted–this is why we have guidelines of our own that reflect common guidelines you'll find at most quality publishers. Our editors will review your article before it gets distributed to alert you to any issues that may cause your article to be rejected when it reaches the publisher level.
That's actually what this whole blog is about too–we want your articles to get accepted (hopefully on the first try!) and for your article marketing efforts to succeed!
So, when we notice an area where many people are slipping up, we try to go over it here so that you can adjust your articles to be more appealing to readers and publishers.

I am always telling you to write articles on the topic of your website, but what if your website is more like a shopping mall, with lots of different categories and pages selling all sorts of different products?
What should you write about then?
That's an excellent question!
If you have different areas of merchandise at your site, consider writing articles for each area–you have to get creative with this!

Recently we were talking about how to get double duty out of your articles by turning them into an e-book.
For one thing an e-book is a great lure to add to your resource box ("grab the free e-book on this topic at my website!), it is a great way to show potential customers that you really know your stuff, and if that wasn't enough, it stretches the usefulness of your marketing content.
If the idea of writing/assembling anything resembling a book scares you, breathe easy–this can be as simple as you want it to be.

We've been talking recently about getting multiple marketing uses out of your articles, and I must tell you that creating an e-book from your articles is one of the simplest and most beneficial things you can do!
Here's why:
1) An e-book based off of your articles is a great lure for your resource box.
How many times have you seen someone saying in their resource box "claim your free e-book on this topic by going to [their website URL]"?
To my ears that sounds so professional–I think, "That person must really have things together. They actually have a collection of useful information ready and waiting for me."
Also, if the person has taken the time to read your article, then chances are they would also be interested in similar articles. You can have a resource box that says "If you found these tips on [your topic] helpful, then please check out the free report "101 more tips on such and such".
2) An e-book based off of your articles is a great way to establish yourself as an expert in your niche.
As long as you've gone to the trouble of writing several useful quality articles, why not collect them all in one place and show off the scope of your knowledge?
Yes, writing articles is a great way to gain a potential customer's confidence, but if seeing one article makes a person say, "Hmmm, she really knows her stuff!", then seeing 5, 10, 15, or more pieces of useful content will further cement it in a reader's brain that yes, you do know what you're talking about!
3) It goes without saying that creating an e-book based off of your articles is a great way to get more mileage out of your marketing efforts (and we could all benefit from getting more bang for our marketing buck, couldn't we?).
Whenever you see other authors talking about their e-books you might have found yourself saying, "I wish I had an e-book to offer readers, but I don't even know how to go about that. After all, I'm not a real writer–how in the world could I make an actual e-book?"
To tell you the truth, it's actually easier than you might think, but first let me put your mind at rest about a few things:

Article marketing is all about providing readers with educational articles, and what better way to educate and inform than to write a HowTo article?
As we discussed a few days ago, a How To articles provide a number of perks for authors, just a few of which are:
- HowTo articles allow you to establish yourself as an expert in your niche.
- HowTo articles satisfy the DIY desire of many internet users.
- HowTo articles are easy reading (if you do them in list form).
- HowTo articles are even easier writing.
- HowTo articles are reader-centric and are not usually sales-y or promotional.
But how do you write a HowTo article? It's actually not that hard when you break it down into steps.

Recently we talked about the amazing reader appeal of 'list articles', and I would say that the 'How To' article is right up there in terms of popularity with readers.
Why are 'How To' articles so sticky?
1) We are a very DIY oriented society, aren't we?
Especially with the advent of the internet, we're "doing it ourselves" more and more. Where do we find our guides for how to do a particular project? The internet!
Searchers want instructional information–how many times in the last month have you done a search that was 'How To' oriented?
If you're writing 'How To' articles you are naturally appealing to search engine customers, which is actually what what we're going for!

A key aspect of article marketing is providing valuable educational content for your target market, but how do you know what sorts of information your target customers are looking for?
Of course we always write on the topic of our websites, but beyond that, where can we get specific ideas for articles?
The crazy thing is that we (the experts) oftentimes are so waist deep in our field that we overlook the most obvious questions and topics.
As business owners who are marketing focused, sometimes our brains are not completely customer-centric when we're deciding what to write about.
That is just human nature–in order to get a read on questions that are circling through our customers' brains, we need to venture beyond ourselves and our expertise and journey into the turf of our customers.
But where do you find that turf, and how can we get into the minds of our customers?
Please check out these 5 main areas where you can get a read on your target customers so that you can then produce content that will satisfy their needs:
